General

Birth Registration is carried out for children under the age of 1 year only.
You can send us the documents through mail / courier. In such case, please do not forget to send us Self-Addressed Express or Registered Post Envelop for the return of the document
Processing Time of 5 working days apply for registration of birth of a child, if all the required documents are satisfactory and genuine.
Processing fees can paid through Postal Money Order / Certified Bank Cheque / Bank Draft in favor of “Consulate General of Pakistan, Melbourne”. Alternatively, payment can be made in person through EftPOS machine (bank charges apply) available in the Mission. The same is neither acceptable in cash nor refundable.
1. Application Form “S” duly completed and signed by Father / Mother

2. Three photographs of the child with Child’s name written on the back

3. Copy of Child’s Birth Certificate attested by Justice of Peace (JP)

4. Copy of Pakistani Passport and National Identity Card of Child’s father attested by JP

5. Copy of Pakistani Passport and National Identity Card of Child’s mother attested by JP

6. Copy of Marriage Certificate/ Nikah nama of the parents attested by JP

7. Letter of Consent from Mother / Father who is not a Pakistani citizen

8. Postal Money Order / Certified Bank Cheque / Bank Draft for the processing fee amounting to AUD 20.00

9. Self-addressed Express Post or Registered Post Envelop for dispatch of Birth Registration Certificate

1. The Mission does not have any facility for processing of NICOP / CNIC.

2. NICOP / CNIC services are made available online by National Database Registry Authority (NADRA). You may like to visit their website for more information on http://id.nadra.gov.pk/

You can send us the duly filled in form and supporting documents through mail / courier.
If your form and supporting documents are complete, the same shall be forwarded to the Department of Immigration and Passports in Pakistan for processing and decision. This process may take 4-6 months and you will be receive a “Certificate of Renunciation” directly from Pakistan. Please note that we have no control over this process.
Please note that on receiving “Renunciation of Citizenship Certificate” from Pakistan, the applicant is also required to apply online for cancellation of his / her CNIC / NICOP on NADRA’s website: http://id.nadra.gov.pk/

Two copies of Application form (Form-X) duly typed (not to be handwritten), attested by the Justice of Peace (JP). Front attested photograph be pasted on top right of both copies.
Four (04) recent passport size photographs (2 X 11/2 inches) with white background (front view) attested at the back by JP.
A copy of any one document, i.e. Assurance Letter/ Naturalization Certificate /Citizenship Certificate / Foreign Passport.
Two (02) copies of CNIC/NICOP, both sides on one page.
Two (02) copies of first four pages of latest Pakistani Passports on one page.
Two copies of data page of Foreign Passport, if available.
All original valid & expired Pakistani passports.
In case a person does not have copies of CNIC/NICOP, the applicant will provide an affidavit stating that the applicant does not possess CNIC/NICOP and will provide complete address in Pakistan.

Copies of any one document i.e. NICOP/Birth Certificate/ Pakistan passport of the minor children of the male applicantonly, residing abroad, where applicable.
The copies of Nikahnama (Marriage Certificate) / divorce papers, of the female applicant, if passport/ NICOP is not modified with husband / father’s name respectively.
Postal Money Order / Certified Bank Cheque / Bank Draft amounting to AUD 15.00

Information regarding death of a Pakistan community member should be immediately informed to the Pakistan High Commission, Canberra and Consulates General of Pakistan within their jurisdiction.

The following documents are required for issuance of “No Objection Certificate” for transportation of the dead body;

Original passport of the deceased person
CNIC or NICOP of the deceased person
Death certificate of the deceased person
Embalming certificate issued by the funeral house mandatory (if the dead body is not being transported to Pakistan, this requirement may be omitted)
Certificate of non-communicable diseases mandatory (if the dead body is not being transported to Pakistan, this requirement may be omitted)
A letter from the Director of the funeral house conveying the above-mentioned documents

Frequently Asked Questions (Birth Registration of a Child)

It is an essential requirement of the Government of Pakistan to register a new born baby whose one or both parents are Pakistani and they wish to maintain the relationship of their new born with the motherland. It is the choice of the parents and not a compulsion

NICOP is mandatory for processing of Passport and for NICOP Birth registration is mandatory.

For Child Birth Registration we need the following documents:

Filled in application form
A copy of birth certificate of your child
Copies of Pakistani passports
CNIC / NICOP of both parents and
Marriage Certificate

For registration of birth of a child, production of Marriage Certificate / Nikahnama is a mandatory requirement. Parents are also required to submit NICOP / CNIC reflecting their marital status.
